Biography
Yeoshin Jang (born September 29, 2000, in Daejeon, South Korea) is a flutist and piccoloist. She began her Bachelor's studies at the age of 15 and earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris under Prof. Philippe Bernold and completed a Master’s in Orchestral Music at the Universität der Künste Berlin under Prof. Christina Fassbender, graduating with the highest distinction. In October 2024, she began the Konzertexamen program with Prof. Mario Caroli at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg.
She has performed at renowned festivals, including the Verbier Festival Academy & Orchestras (2024, invited for 2025), Zermatt Music Festival & Academy (2023, 2024), and the Gonjiam Flute & Woodwind Festival. She has collaborated in chamber music with Mathieu Dufour, Stefan de Leval Jezierski, Bence Bogányi, and the Scharoun Ensemble.
She has also performed as a guest musician with the Karajan-Akademie of the Berliner Philharmoniker and completed the Academy of the Freunde der Tiroler Festspiele Erl.
She is a scholarship recipient and academy member of Villa Musica.
As an orchestral musician, she will join the Nationaltheater Mannheim as Solo Piccolo in April 2025 as a permanent member (with trial). Previously, she was a Praktikantin (intern) with the SWR Symphonieorchester for the 2023–2024 season and has been a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie since 2022. She has performed under esteemed conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Klaus Mäkelä, Teodor Currentzis, Antonio Pappano, Lahav Shani, Andres Orozco-Estrada and Tarmo Peltokoski, appearing in prestigious venues including the Berliner Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie de Paris, and Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall.
Her solo performances include appearances with the Cheong-ju Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dae-gu Symphony Orchestra. She has won 1st Prize at the International Mozart Competition Vienna (2025), International Music Competition "Berlin" Grand Prize Virtuoso (2025) with the opportunity to perform as a soloist at the Berlin Philharmonie, International Music Competition "Vienna" Grand Prize Virtuoso (2019), and Paris Music Competition ‘Les Musicales du Centre’ (Prix Special d’Or, 2019). Additionally, she was awarded the Absolute First Prize at the Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition (Professional, 2025), the Diamond Prize at the Berlioz International Music Competition (Professional, No age limit, 2024), and the Jury Special Award at the Tokyo International Flute Audition (2021). She has also received 1st Prize at the Seoul Music Competition (2015) & Seoul Arts Concours (2015), as well as top prizes in national competitions such as the Korea Flute Association Concours (2014), TBC Music Concours (2013), and Shinye Music Competition (2012).
She has participated in lessons and masterclasses with Emmanuel Pahud, Mathieu Dufour, Henrik Wiese, Michael Martin Kofler, Sophie Cherrier, Denis Bouriakov, and Peter-Lukas Graf. She continues to be active in both chamber and orchestral music.
